Caring for all horses and ponies

From competition horses to the trusty family hack, we’ll help you care for your horse throughout its life with preventative health care to keep them happy and healthy for longer.

We bring caring, professional and prompt service to horse-owners across Angus and Perthshire. We also offer extensive in-house facilities for enhanced care, surgery or more complex cases.

Thrums Vets: Caring for each and every horse as an individual

We offer an advanced ambulatory equine service, backed up by hospitalisation facilities at our Kirriemuir surgery, all led by our team of dedicated equine vets.

We understand the importance of treating every horse or pony that we see as an individual, whether they’re a leisure animal or an Olympic athlete, and take the time to get to know our clients and patients.

The Thrums values underpin every aspect of our offering: integrity, community, excellence, happiness and friendship.

And seeing as many of our team are horse owners themselves, we know exactly how best to translate that to deliver the very best equine veterinary service.

A comprehensive and modern equine veterinary service

We cover a large area, from the outskirts of Perth and Dundee all the way to Edzell and Arbroath.

To provide you with exceptional value for money and reduce our carbon footprint we have a system of zone visits on specified days for routine, preventative and non emergency work. Our modern ambulatory equipment includes digital x-ray, ultrasound scanners, dental kit and an on-site endoscope.

We offer a broad range of first opinion services including routine vaccinations, dental work, reproduction, lameness examinations and investigations, joint medication, geldings, vettings and wound management, as well as a year-round, 24/7 emergency service for registered clients.

Our long history in the area has enabled us to build strong relationships with local referral centres for cases that need additional input, as well as farriers and other necessary services, as well as the support of being part of Scotland’s largest independent veterinary group.

We offer a range of Equine Health Plans, allowing you to secure a veterinary service tailored to you and your horse’s needs, while spreading the cost throughout the year.

If that sounds like the service you need for your horse, join online today, or get in touch with our team for a chat to find out more about how we can help you.
