Dogs from countries not listed as part of the UK’s approved third-country scheme may require quarantine. Conditions vary – check regulations early to avoid surprises.
For dogs arriving from certain countries, a vet must administer tapeworm treatment 24-120 hours before entry into the UK, and provide documentation to confirm it.
Your dog must be microchipped before their rabies jab, and the vaccination must be administered at least 21 days before travel.
Bringing a dog into the UK requires careful preparation. You need to ensure they are microchipped, vaccinated against rabies, have an import health certificate and meet all quarantine and parasite treatment rules.
