About Thrums Equine Services
Thrums Equine Services proudly offers comprehensive care for all types of equines, ranging from children’s ponies and donkeys to high-performance show-jumping and eventing horses. Our mission is to deliver first-class equine services, providing our clients and their horses with prompt, professional care and expert advice tailored to their specific needs.
We serve clients across Angus and Perthshire, delivering routine services directly to your location. These services include vaccinations, dentistry, castrations, wound treatments, and microchipping/passports. Our expertise also extends to performing lameness, colic, and reproductive examinations, as well as diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses that may affect your pony. We utilize state-of-the-art equipment such as our portable x-ray machine with advanced digital processing capabilities, which ensures incredibly detailed imaging, and our portable ultrasound scanners, which play a crucial role in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of various conditions.
For those who prefer to bring their horses to us or when more specialized facilities are required, our Kirriemuir surgery is equipped with a dedicated equine area. This facility is ideal for routine procedures as well as more complex treatments. We are equipped with a set of stocks, particularly useful for dental and reproductive procedures on less cooperative or sedated horses. Our surgical capabilities include procedures like castrations and hernia repairs, and we also have a video endoscope that allows for detailed internal examinations of the nasal passages and throat. For horses requiring intensive veterinary care or extended hospitalization, our large stable offers a safe and comfortable environment. We also accommodate horses that need to stay with us for the day for routine procedures, providing convenience for busy owners.
Our dedicated team includes several nursing staff members who are passionate horse owners themselves. Their personal experience and expertise greatly enhance the level of care we provide, particularly in assisting with examinations and ensuring the well-being of hospitalised horses.
